11 Golden rules for improvisation

Music is all about improvisation, That’s real magic

Playing the same song all over and over again may feel boring after a year or two. What happens if you play the same 30 songs you know for ten or twenty years, are you going to stick to the same melody? Same format? Same Bass groove accompaniment? Or will you freshen up your musical style, add interestic licks, add new improvised sections, change the melody line just a bit here and there so while sticking to the original composition as well?

Who can do that? How well can one be trained to do such things? Are you aloud to do this, are you worthy of doing that? Is it difficult? How brave should I be, after all one may think this is walking on thin air, taking such a risk in front of an audience may open doors to silly mistakes, one can make a fool of himself and be considered an “Avarage” musician . . . Is this really so or is this just in your own head?

You see… taking a risk is one thing, having fear is a another thing, and feeling unworthy is a totally different thing. So let’s clean up things over here just and make things a little bit more simple: Are you willing to be a real musician or are you going to keep on hiding behing masks of faking it as if you are a great musician. I already said music is all about improvisation, so if you can’t improvise, and you have fear of taking risks, appear silly and you feel unworthy because you are not a “Gypsy” musician , you are “only” Classical Trained? So you may have this problem. But, not to worry, you are far from being the only one, it’s a common problem, and yes, it is a problem but hey – like I said, do not worry, This is why I am here to teach you just this, let’s start with some 11 Golden rules so you get the picture –
